The Christmas SMS

Christmas has come and gone  The kids got new stuff to play with.  The adults are now all worried because they have blown their diets. We again say goodbye to Bruce and Jan as they head north for the month in search of the rest and relaxation that they deserve.

I managed to upset someone by sending a SMS to everyone wishing the a Happy Christmas.  I don’t believe I need to apologise for who I am or what I believe.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) I am off with the kids and my sisters and their families for a night camping and fishing.  This should be relaxing enough for me to return to work by Wednesday afternoon.

Till then

Ciao

Jesus is the reason for the season.

Cool.  I’ve started a blog.  Now I have to think about what to write every day. I’ll need some help I guess. Anyone got any thoughts?

Christmas is upon us. If you believe the shops and glossy advertising then it’s a time to start spending all your money, maxing out the credit card and eating to you can’t eat know more and then some.  Think to yourself though, why do we do this, what is it all about? Well Christmas is about the giving of gifts, of love and of family but not in the way we usually think of.  Christmas is a time when God gave us the gift of His only begotten Son, Jesus.  Jesus would go on to give us the gift of everlasting life and a bridge to God because we had turned our backs on God through sin.  By sinning we have put a barrier between us and God and it is only through believing in Jesus that we can overcome this barrier and live in a relationship with God.  Why did God do this though?  Well it’s quite simple.  God truly loves us.  Now this is not a love we are used to, in that, we have a feeling of love that often comes and goes as the wind changes, but this is real love.  It’s an unconditional love, it never fails, even willing to put His own Son in our place on the cross to pay the penalty of all our sins, the past, present and future, ALL SINS.  This is true love.  Now come the family part, God wants us to join His family, of all who believe and trust in Him.  How can you join God’s family, it’s quite simple.  Firstly, pray to Him.  Ask for His forgiveness, to which it is freely given, open up His word, the Bible.  Don’t start at Genesis but start by reading Mark’s gospel.  Find a church that faithfully preaches God’s word and join in fellowship with other members of God’s family.  We are all God’s children. When will you listen to your Father?

Happy Christmas
